Hello,

Thank you for the packages. They are great. We are having a Halloween trunker treat party on Friday. We are going to see if we can take people on chapel tours during it. I went on three exchanges this week and had a way sweet experience in district meeting. The focus of the meeting was "teach people not lessons." Basically stop and listen to the spirit on what to say. During the practice teaching part of it I could totally tell when what was being said was directed from the spirit and when the teacher was just teaching by his own knowledge. Ever since that district meeting I have been making an effort to listen to the spirit during lessons. I've got to say, it is a whole lot easier in practice teaching than in real teaching. I have still had some really great experiences. We had a lesson where we learned tons about where our investigator is at. She really opened up and shared how she was feeling. Then we had a member invite their friend to hear the gospel, so we went over and talked to her and her husband. It all started with a Sentsy candle party. They are both way excited to be part of the church and to follow Christ example. They want to be baptized on November 20th. They came to all three hours of church and we have another lesson with them today. They are so ready for the gospel. God has really prepared them. Well, I've got to get going but I love you and hope all is well.

Love,
Elder Hurst.

Hi,
How is it going? The weather has been funny. First it was just hot then it cooled to like low 80s high 70s then it got hot again just as the APs announced suit coat season( we have to wear suit coats all the time now.) But then it started raining and its like 60 to 70 degrees. Oh, hey! Guess what? I got made DL ;). Being DL is ok. It means I get to go on exchanges, which are always fun. Well, things are going good. We just started teaching this single mother who is a member that hasn't been to church since she was a teenager. Her son is 15 and not a member. They both came to church this week. It was totally wicked in a non-evil, very righteous way. We also had a re-baptism on Saturday. She has been away from the gospel for so long. It was sweet to see her change and come back. I am so grateful to be a part of it and witness her change of heart. I'm so glad to be on a mission. It is such a wonderful opportunity and a blessing. I know that this church is true and that this is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I love you and pray all goes well.
Love,
Elder Jared Hurst

The biggest thing for me in conference was "Don't Ever Leave Him". I have recently been thinking and talking to the other missionaries about that. I have made covenants that I will never break. It's way sad to see people who have had this light and this happiness, and have turned from it. Even more so when they have gone on a mission and through the temple and they don't stay with it. I have come to realize that it's reading the Book of Mormon/praying everyday and going to church every week with a sincere heart. It will be much easier to make the right decision and not take a "detour". I love the Lord and I know this is His church because I know the Book of Mormon is true.
I have been in Roseville 6th ward for 4 and1/2 months and transfers was last week so I will be here for at least 6 months. My companions name is Elder Garrison I have been with him for the past 3 months and I will stay with him until he dies. He is great and I love him; he can be a bit of an odd duck some times. But when he bears his testimony and teaches the gospel the other things don't matter.Well I love you guys.

Love,
Elder Jared Hurst
